The Level-Set

The Level-Set

One of the most valuable disciplines in my life is what I call a level-set.

I pause and ask myself:

Why do I feel like I do?
Why am I here?
Why do I do what I do?
What is my purpose?
Am I fulfilling it?
Am I connected to the right people for this season of my life?

I re-evaluate everything.

Because life has a way of moving us quietly.

Our experiences make subtle adjustments to our perspective, our thoughts, and our movements. Sometimes those adjustments are aligned with where our heart is truly aiming. Other times, those adjustments are rooted in avoidance.

And avoidance is dangerous.

Avoidance doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks responsible. Sometimes it looks caring. Sometimes it looks noble.

But avoidance slowly pulls us away from what we actually desire.

I am very people-oriented. That’s part of how I’m wired. Many of my movements are shaped by how I can attend to, assist, and show up for others. And if I’m honest, there are certain people I will lean into heavily — even at the expense of my own well-being — just to make sure they’re okay.

But what happens when those movements aren’t accepted?
When they aren’t needed?
When they aren’t wanted?

That’s when I know it’s time for a level-set.

Purpose is not accidental. It has to be sought and moved toward intentionally. Some people know their purpose and pursue it daily. Others recognize it but avoid it because purpose is uncomfortable.

But what is life if it’s unfulfilled?

What is this life all about if we don’t do anything with it?

Reflection isn’t always linear. It’s honest.

We complain about everything, yet we’re often unwilling to do anything about what we’re complaining about. When that happens, all we create is negative space.

In the winter, we complain about the cold.
In the summer, we complain about the heat.

But perspective changes everything.

Some people sled, ski, and enjoy the beauty of winter. Others ride bikes, swim, and take long walks in the summer. There’s no complaint because they’ve found their answer within the season.

I’ve chosen to keep my head on a swivel — always looking for opportunity and prepared to pivot when it shows up. That posture creates positive space. I don’t complain about what’s been placed in my life. I look for how to move within it.

The level-set helps me settle myself.

It reminds me that my “why” today may not look exactly like it did 30 years ago. It may not even look like it did yesterday.

Because we are ever-learning. Ever-growing. And life continues life-ing.

So the question becomes:

When was the last time you re-evaluated your movements?
Your purpose?
Your why?

If you’re reading this and you feel a quiet discomfort about where you’re headed, don’t ignore it. That discomfort might be a signal.

Maybe you’ve drifted.
Maybe you’re avoiding something.
Maybe it’s simply time to reset.

Whatever it is — pause. Reflect. Realign.

I pray total life prosperity over you in every area of your being.

I love you all!!!
Stay Blessed
